Henson Gap
The Hang Gliding Capital of the East
Henson’s Gap is a popular hang gliding site located in eastern Tennessee, near the town of Dunlap. The site boasts outstanding views of the surrounding mountains and rolling countryside. The launch and landing areas are easily accessible by car, and the site is well-maintained by local hang gliding organizations.
Hensons Gap is a great site for hang gliding enthusiasts of all skill levels. The prevailing winds are from the west, which makes for great soaring conditions. Thermals are also common in the area, which can provide additional lift for longer flights.
The best time to visit Henson Gap for hang gliding is during the spring and fall months. The weather during these seasons is mild and stable, which allows for long, enjoyable flights. Additionally, the scenery during these times is breathtaking, with the leaves on the trees changing colors.
Fall Creek Falls State Park
Fall Creek Falls State Park is one of Tennessee’s largest and most visited state parks. The park encompasses more than 29,800 acres sprawled across the eastern top of the rugged Cumberland Plateau. Laced with cascades, gorges, waterfalls, streams and lush stands of virgin hardwood timber, the park beckons those who enjoy nature at her finest. Fall Creek Falls, at 256 feet, is one of the highest waterfalls in the eastern United States. Other waterfalls within the park include Piney Falls, Cane Creek Falls, and Cane Creek Cascades.
The park is located in Bledsoe and Van Buren counties, 11 miles east of Spencer and 18 miles west of Pikeville. It may be entered from Highway 111 or Highway 30.
Rolling Oak Distillery
Established in March 2022, Rolling Oak Distillery is a Tennessee distillery crafting a variety of spirits, including moonshine, vodka, and Xperience vodka Sequatchie Counties first legal distillery. Misty Mountain Moonshine Tennessee Moonshine Xperience vodka Grains to Greatness.
They currently offer Original (80, 100 & 140 PROOF), Apple Pie, Blueberry Pancakes, Sweet Tea, Peach, Coffee, Cranberry, Blackberry Lemonade, Strawberry Lemonade, Lemonade, Salted Caramel, Pumpkin Pie, French Toast, Appalachian Paradise. Coal Miners Reserve and our Tennessee Vodka.
Tasting room is open Monday-Saturday noon to 7 eastern !
